Abstract
The option of fertility regulation method for male was stricter than for female in reproductive process from germ cell to fertilization. The recent research has focused on hormonal method which interfere with sperm formation and maturation, and inhibited ovulation. The trend of sterilization technologies change from permanent and irreversible method to temporary and reversible method.
Many public and private research group have been trying to develop and provide a long acting steroids including implant, inject able contraceptives and contraceptive vaginal ring, and barrier methods to protect STDs such as modified condom and female condom.
The side effects generally pose no significant health risk to the contraceptive users. But fertility regulation method will be use mainly by healthy man and women over long period for the purpose of fertility regulation. Concern about their safety should be required greatly. To reduce side effect of contraceptive method, there is need for developing new contraceptive methods, and providing information to meet the varying need for contraceptive choice of both men and women throughout their reproductive life cycles.
